Byron Nelson's Home Course

Byron Nelson's love for, and dedication to, this golf course was so great that he devoted many, many hours to it.  He and Joe Finger laid out the course (routing) to take advantage of the natural beauty of the land.  Joe described how Byron took infinite pains on everything by telling how Byron spent three hours deciding what trees in front of #9 tee should be preserved.  Joe gave Byron credit for the contours of the greens and many other aspects of the golf course architecture.  From interviews with these two men, it became apparent that a super team had given us a marvelous golf course.

Honoring the Tradition

The motto of Riverhill is "The Tradition Continues."  Not only is the care of the course a way to honor one of the greatest legends in golf and the course that he loved, but also the carrying-on of the friendly atmosphere that meant so much to Byron keeps his spirit alive here.

When Byron was asked what his favorite course was to play, his immediate answer, though he played the world over, was "Riverhill."
